Latest update on May 22nd (the updated info is in orange)
Important update about shipping: At this time, I will ship everything in a letter (that can safely be sent in one) and use the mail box down the street, so I can restrict the post office visits to a minimum for you and me both. I will only go to the post office on unbusy hours; usually around 2pm. I use our national postal service for shipping and at this time that means I can only ship to the following countries: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam. Unfortunately Canada is yet again off the list. Note that there might be some delays on orders going abroad, but hopefully just for few days.
If you are stuck at home and can’t go to a post office, please leave me a note of it on the checkout page so I know to pack your order accordingly.
If you are located in Finland and want your bigger items delivered to your door, you can choose a home delivery as a shipping method (Posti and Matkahuolto will provide this service and by latest notice they don’t need signatures and can leave the shipment behind your door without any contact.) Regular box sized things will ship to your local parcel locker, so you can pick it up when most convenient.
The made on demand -products that are made in Latvia are having some delays at the moment as they are working with less people in their shifts as a precaution. It might take them up to 2 weeks to get your items ready to be shipped. There is a orange notion tab on the products affected by this.
The good news: the web shop will stay open through all of this. I will ship out orders as long the shipping companies are in business. At this time, I can ship orders to limited countries, see the updated full list above. We are self isolating and so far, we’ve dodged the bullet and are safe and healthy.
The bad news: All design markets for this spring & summer have been cancelled. Nordic Designer’s Pop Up Shop in Helsinki will open again on June 1st and you can find LumiWAU items in the shop starting 1st July. My stockists have limited opening hours or are closed until further notice.
The important news: Please think about the small and weak on every action you take during this time. Obviously keeping everyone safe is priority number one. But please, keep in mind, that few months of isolation and quarantines will be brutal on small businesses, the culture industry and the restaurant industry. Do what you can to help out these businesses stay afloat during next few months.
Like said, my shop will stay open and I am so so grateful to all the orders that will be placed during this time. Even the smallest purchases will make a difference – I will stay busy and stream of few euros will lead to being able to pay my bills at one point. And if you absolutely can’t spare a dime now, share my rainbows where you can so I can reach out to more people and survive this time. Thank you for your support, it truly means the world to me.
Precautions I’m taking: As you know, there’s only me at LumiWAU. And my studio is located in our home so yes, I’m staying home. For the foreseeable future, Joni is also working from home and we only go out for necessities. The only places we NEED to go during these days are groceries, the post office and maybe run some errands for my parents who are high risk. We wash our hands constantly, use masks when in public, clean up more frequently and use sanitizers. If I, or someone in my family would get sick, I would probably take a small break of sending out orders, even though there has not been any cases so far that people had gotten covid-19 from things. I’ll keep you all updated.
I’ll keep you updated on any changes, stay safe people!
