12 days of Christmas – DAY 5 : WorksBeautifully

Today I have a very rainbowy designer for you – meet Kirsty from WorksBeautifully! She is an illustrator and designer from the South West of England. Her online shop is full of super colourful and unique products, including pins, phone cases, bags, clothing, homeware and prints! She even carves out some time to do portrait commissions as she just loves illustrating people. I really love her style, and I truly adore how open she is about the hard sides of life too! She even has the crazy hair like I do, so I guess we were soul sisters from the start!

Why did you become a designer?

I studied Fashion Graphics at uni, and I’ve always loved being creative. After uni, I worked at a coffee shop, a few schools and I managed a Pre-School. Alongside this, I was drawing, designing, and selling my artwork on the side. In 2017, I was diagnosed with endometriosis which meant I had to stop working full time. From there, I worked hard to make this my full time job, and in September of this year, that dream came true! I love illustrating and designing and creating products that people love.

Three odd facts about you?

  •  I got back into drawing because of One Direction. A friend told me to listen to their new album back in 2015 and I loved it. I have an obsessive personality when it comes to things I love, and as well as listening to them on repeat, I started drawing them too!
  • I don’t like working in silence. Sometimes I’ll put something on on Netflix and just have it as background noise.
  • I have an extra bone in my right foot. Odd right!?

What’s your fave Christmas activity or your fave thing about Christmas?

I just love that the world stops for a little bit and you get to cosy up inside with the fire on in your pjs. I also love being with my family and eating lots of yummy food!

What’s your top tip for a gift and for who is it best for?

I would suggest my Love is Love pins. They come in lots of pride flag variations and I think giving one of those to someone you love and want to show support to would be lovely! I have lots of mums messaging me asking for advice on which flag represents their child and it makes me so happy!

What did you wish from Santa this year?

A happy and healthy 2020! Oh, and lots of vegan chocolate please!

Something else you’d like to mention?

Treat People With Kindness in the wise words of Harry Styles.

What a woman! Here are just two of my favorites from her shop; the We’re All A Little Bit Gay -enamel pin and the super cute Christmas Pattern -enamel mug that just makes me all cosy and jolly inside!  If I had all the money in the world I would definitely buy everything!

You can find her links below, and she tells me that her last shipping day for European orders is on the 18th BUT her products can take up to 5 days to produce so to be safe, get your orders in by the 13th.

It’s Finnish independence day tomorrow, so I’ll be sharing someone local! Any guesses who it’ll be? See you back here tomorrow!
