As some of you know, I’ve been doing some sort of Advent Calendar each year I’ve been in business – that means this is the sixth year I’m doing this. I thought it was a time to shake things up a bit so I’ve invited some of my favorite rainbow makers and designers to answer few questions so you can get to know them too! I believe you will find plenty of new favorites and maybe even some great gift ideas too.
Today I’m going to introduce you to lovely Pippa, the first one of the designers I have lined up. She runs Chimps Tea Party, which is a shop full of colourful homewares, cards and gifts featuring her stunning collage illustrations. And let me tell you, those are bloody magnificent with the funny animals and fantastic florals! I absolutely adore her style and designs and she genuinely just makes me smile!
Why did you become a designer?
I have always loved making things and started selling handmade sock monkeys when I was still at school. After studying illustration at university I wanted to use my skills to make beautiful products!
Three odd facts about you or your work?
- I take all the photos used in the collages. Some of the animals are taxidermy ones from a museum.
- I start every design by cutting things with scissors and glueing them together. I hate using the computer.
- my favourite animals are fruit bats, armadillos and walruses
What’s your fave thing about Christmas?
My favourite thing about Christmas is having ALL the fairy lights and candles on and the smell of the Christmas tree.
What’s your top tip for a gift and for who is it best for?
My top tip for a gift is one of my plant animals! They are little animal friends for your house plants. A perfect little stocking filler for a plant enthusiast.
What did you wish from Santa this year?
I’ve asked Santa for a pet flamingo!
I hope Santa brings Pippa a pet flamingo! My favorites from her shop are obviously the Plant Friends, but also the absolutely adorable Penguin Reindeer -Christmas ornament and the Multi use headscarf!
You can find her links below, and she tells me that her last shipping day for European orders is on the 14th. So make sure you get your order in before that!
Tomorrow I have another fantastic designer / maker lined up, so see you back here then! Until then, have a magical day!
